Abstract
The aim of this research is to analyze the impact of household waste proliferation on the urban environment in Al Ajilat, Libya. Household waste is a growing environmental problem in urban areas, where enormous quantities of waste are generated daily, leading to environmental pollution and negative implications for quality of life and urban aesthetics. Data was collected from multiple sources, including previous studies, local reports, and interviews with local officials, and analyzed using descriptive and quantitative methods. The results demonstrate that the spread of household waste in Al Ajilat has effects on wildlife, as well as deterioration of the urban aesthetics, negatively impacting the environment, local residents, and hindering sustainable development. The research recommends the necessity of enhancing a culture of household waste management in the city and providing an effective infrastructure for waste collection and treatment. It also suggests implementing local legislation related to waste management, promoting environmental awareness and education among the population. Furthermore, it is crucial to utilize modern technology in waste management and encourage innovation and investment in waste-to-energy projects. By implementing these measures, the negative implications of household waste proliferation on the urban environment in the city can be mitigated.
