Effectiveness of Utilizing Educational Technology in Developing Digital Competencies Among Faculty of Education Students

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of employing educational technology in developing digital competencies among students of the Faculty of Education - Tiji, and aimed to identify the extent of the use of educational technology by students of the Faculty of Education - Tiji, and the level of digital competencies among students in the college, and also sought to know the effect of employing educational technology on the digital competencies of students. To achieve these objectives, the descriptive-analytical approach was used. The study population consisted of all academic departments in the College of Education. The Computer Science Department was chosen as the sample for the study, and the number of students in the department was (66) male and female students. To collect the data, a questionnaire was used, which was distributed via Google Forms to the selected sample. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used, and some statistical methods were adopted. The study results showed a high level of educational technology utilization in the Computer Science Department at the Faculty of Education in Tiji, and that students possessed digital competencies. A statistically significant correlation was found between the utilization of educational technology and digital competencies among Computer Science students. Furthermore, the results indicated no statistically significant differences in digital competency levels attributable to gender or academic year.
