The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Drafting Petitions in Civil Courts

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most prominent modern technologies transforming various sectors, and the judicial field is no exception. Courts around the world have begun adopting intelligent systems that help judges perform their duties more efficiently and accurately. AI plays a pivotal role in analyzing previous rulings and extracting judicial rules, facilitating judges' access to similar precedents. It also contributes to drafting preliminary drafts of judicial orders and rulings, and summarizing large files, saving time and effort. In addition, intelligent algorithms assist in case management, scheduling hearings, examining digital evidence to detect fraud or manipulation, and developing predictive justice models that predict case outcomes based on historical data. Despite the benefits of AI in accelerating dispute resolution and achieving prompt justice, it raises several legal and ethical challenges, most notably: the risk of bias in algorithms, the lack of transparency in decision-making mechanisms, and questions about the extent of its responsibility compared to the independence of judges. Therefore, it can be said that AI is an assistant tool for judges that enhances their efficiency, but it cannot replace them. This calls for the development of legislation and controls that ensure a balance between leveraging its capabilities and preserving the principles of human justice.
