The role of artificial intelligence in developing education

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to explore the role of artificial intelligence in educational development by analyzing its various applications, highlighting the opportunities it offers, and identifying the challenges associated with its integration into the educational system. The research stems from the premise that the importance of artificial intelligence applications is not limited to economic, technological, industrial, and medical fields, but extends to the educational process itself, given its significant impact on improving the quality of learning and enhancing the efficiency of educational outcomes. The research focuses on questions addressing the concept of artificial intelligence and its theoretical foundations, its most prominent educational applications, the challenges facing its implementation in education, and the anticipated future opportunities. The researcher employed a descriptive-analytical approach by reviewing and analyzing previous literature and studies to arrive at conclusions and recommendations. The research concluded that some of the most important applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in education include personalized and adaptive learning, smart teaching systems, smart assessment and evaluation, the use of augmented and virtual reality in education, and Arabic language editing and proofreading services. AI also contributes to improving academic achievement, bridging knowledge gaps, and enhancing interaction and participation in classrooms. Conversely, the research identified key challenges, including privacy and data security, the digital divide and its impact on human jobs, technical and training challenges, and the potential for over-reliance on technology to reduce human interaction and essential skills. Therefore, the research highlights the importance of developing well-considered plans for integrating AI into education. These plans should include providing suitable infrastructure, training teachers, and establishing ethical and legal frameworks to protect learners' data, ensuring the optimal use of this technology and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
