University admission policies at Al-Zawiya University and the efficiency of educational outcomes

Abstract
The study aimed to identify the reality of university admission policies at Al-Zawiya University to achieve the efficiency of educational outcomes, by identifying the procedures and mechanisms of the admission policies adopted by the university and the extent of their compatibility with the requirements of academic efficiency, identifying the most prominent challenges and difficulties facing the application of the current admission policies at Al-Zawiya University, then measuring the extent to which the current admission policies contribute to directing students towards specializations that suit their abilities and academic inclinations, and finally proposing mechanisms and suggestions that contribute to developing university admission policies at Al-Zawiya University in a way that achieves the efficiency of educational outcomes. The study reached the following results: that the university admission policies adopted at Al-Zawiya University depend mainly on the general secondary school score, which limits its ability to achieve academic efficiency in its outputs. The current admissions policies at Al-Zawiya University face several challenges, including legislative shortcomings, weak administrative structure, resource shortages, and reliance on traditional criteria solely based on grade point averages. This hinders the achievement of effective educational outcomes. The current admissions policies contribute only to a limited extent to guiding students toward suitable specializations, as guidance often prioritizes overall grade point average over considering individual abilities and academic aptitudes. The proposed mechanisms and solutions include adopting multiple criteria that encompass abilities and academic aptitudes, developing a guidance and counseling system, enhancing transparency in admissions, and aligning choices with labor market needs to ensure the effectiveness of educational outcomes.
