Abstract
The study aimed to explore the role of social work in addressing drug addiction among adolescents. This was achieved by identifying the main professional roles that social work plays in preventing drug addiction among adolescents, examining how social interventions contribute to supporting the therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects for adolescents who use drugs, identifying the challenges faced by social workers in dealing with addiction cases among adolescents across various institutions, and finally, exploring contemporary trends and practices in social work that can be utilized to reduce addiction among adolescents. The descriptive method was adopted due to its suitability for the study’s objectives. The study reached the following results: -Early preventive interventions implemented by social work in schools and communities significantly reduce drug use rates among adolescents by enhancing awareness and developing life skills. -Continuous psychological and social support provided by social workers contributes to improving adherence to treatment and rehabilitation among addicted adolescents, thereby reducing the risk of relapse. -Social workers face significant challenges, including limited resources and training, as well as difficulties in building trust with adolescents, which affects the effectiveness of the interventions provided. -Enhancing integration among health, educational, security, and social institutions, in addition to utilizing modern technology, improves the quality and efficiency of prevention and treatment programs for adolescent addiction.
