Abstract
The phenomenon of visual pollution is one of the environmental phenomena that urban cities suffer from in our world today, and it takes many forms and types, thus affecting the city’s environment and the people living in it, or those visiting it from neighboring cities. This study aimed to determine the extent to which the city of Gharyan was affected by this phenomenon, being the oldest city in the Western Mountains and its administrative capital, in addition to knowing the most important manifestations or forms of visual pollution in it, relying on the descriptive and analytical approach And field visits to the study area to identify the most important forms of visual pollution in it, and to develop appropriate solutions for this phenomenon. This study concluded that the city suffers from many aspects of visual pollution resulting from the failure to implement urban plans, in addition to the lack of environmental awareness among the population, and recommended the necessity of disseminating Environmental culture among residents, activating the role of regulatory and executive bodies to reduce the phenomenon of visual pollution, and encouraging residents to adopt a distinctive architectural character Designs residential and administrative buildings in the city.
