Abstract

The research aimed to identify the relationship between watching television programs and aggressive behavior among sixth grade students of basic education. It also aimed to know the differences in aggressive behavior among sixth grade students according to the variable of gender. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method on a sample consisting of (68) with (31) male and (37) female students from the sixth grade of primary school at Al Karama Basic Education School located in the city of Al-Zawiya. Data were collected using the Aggressive Behavior Scale prepared by Al-Amayra (1991 AD). The researcher reached a set of results, the most important of which are: There is no correlation. Between watching television and aggressive behavior in its three dimensions (verbal, physical, and toward possessions) among the study sample. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences in the degree of appreciation of verbal aggressive behavior among the study sample due to the gender variable in favor of males. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences. The degree of assessment of physical aggressive behavior in the research sample is attributed to the gender variable in favor of males, while the results showed that there are no statistically significant differences in the degree of assessment of the level of aggressive behavior attributed to the gender variable.
