Abstract
The aim of this study is to explain the approach of Imam Ibn al-Arabi al- Maliki in his book Ahkam al-Qur’an, explain how he derived jurisprudential issues and rulings from the Holy Qur’an, explain the sources he benefited from in writing this book, and clarify its scientific value, with a small addition to his biography. In my study of the book Ahkam al-Qur’an, I followed the analytical descriptive approach, explaining this in a structure consisting of an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. In the introduction: I dealt with the objectives of the research and the elements of the study. As for the first section: it contains three topics, in which I dealt with the introduction to Ibn al-Arabi, his journey, knowledge, and character, and the praise of scholars. On him, his sheikhs, his students, his writings, and his death, then I explained the most important sources on which he relied, including the books of interpretation, the Sunnah, and the books of the Maliki mothers. As for the second section: it contains five topics, in which I discussed his approach to interpretation. He mentioned the reasons for the revelation, his interest in the readings, his fairness to those who opposed it, his objection to some scholars, his diligence and his disagreement with the doctrine at times, and his position on the Israelites. Then the researcher concluded the study with a conclusion in which he mentioned the most important results he reached, the most important of which are: The scholarly status of Imam Ibn al-Arabi, the status of his book and that it is one of the most important references among the scholars of the school of thought, and the Imam’s reliance on the most important books inside and outside the school of thought, his reliance on fundamental investigations, jurisprudential rules, and linguistic sciences in explaining rulings, his clarification of the reasons for revelation and recitations at times, and his keenness to Interpretation of the Companions, Followers, and respected scholars, and its classification into different sciences.
