Abstract
Population growth is one of the most important reasons for the increase in housing expansion, which will lead to changes in the functions of land uses within the city. The purpose of this study is to study the effect between population growth and housing expansion in the city of Al-Ajailat. And by understanding the relationship between population growth and by understanding the relationship between housing expansion, we can build more sustainable cities that effectively meet the needs of current and future residents. The research follows the historical descriptive methods and demographic data because it represents a raw material for understanding the current reality. In this study, the demographic characteristics will be studied, including the population growth in recent years, and the evolution of urban residential uses The researcher reached the most important result, which showed that an increase in the population leads to an increase in the demand for housing. As the population increases, communities need more housing units to meet their housing needs. This often results in a residential expansion of the city to provide new housing. Residential expansion requires the provision of roads, water, sanitation, electricity, schools, medical facilities, gardens, and others. This can pose challenges for local authorities to meet these growing demands. Residential sprawl due to population growth increases traffic congestion in urban areas. Population density is increasing, putting pressure on public spaces, urban resources and services. Increased crowding may lead to decreased quality of life.
