Abstract

This research deals with the analysis of rainy days in terms of their monthly, seasonal and annual distribution and the impact on the distribution of the cumulative total of rainfall for the same time distribution in the Gharyan city by examining daily data across the time series for the period from 1984-2020. The research aims to identify the temporal distribution of rainy days and the relationship of this distribution with the cumulative total of rains, whether at the monthly or quarterly level or during one season in the form of rain categories to determine the behavior of precipitation during the study period. The research reached a set of results, perhaps the most important of which are: the change and the obvious fluctuation in the characteristics of rainy days during the time series, and that most of the rainy days were within the first category of less than 5 mm, so that their percentage of the total totals exceeded 85% on the monthly and quarterly level, and 82% at the annual level. The study also proved that the high values of the cumulative total rainfall were within the extreme days during the categories of more than 10 mm. because they are associated with heavy rainstorms on limited days during the rainy season
