Abstract

The aim of the current research is to achieve the following goals: to identify the attitudes of students of social work at the University of Tobruk towards volunteering, to monitor, and the researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach, as it is suitable for this type of research, and the research sample consisted of all students of the Department of Social Work - University of Tobruk, where the number of male students was (23), and female students (45) in the Department of Social Work for the three stages, In total (68), the researcher used a questionnaire tool to collect data, and the researcher reached the following results: By extracting the results of the research sample’s question about the volunteer work that social service students want to practice, where the responses of the research sample came in the first order, paragraph No. (19) about (I participate in voluntary programs in the field of child care) with a total weight of (180), and an average of Weighted (2.6), standard deviation (1.9) and trend (yes(.By extracting the results of the research sample question about the obstacles that prevent the participation of social service students in volunteer work, where the responses of the research sample came in the first order, paragraph No. (39) about (the weak role of the school and the university in defining participation in volunteer work) with a total of (199) weights , with a weighted mean (3.0), a standard deviation (2.1), and a general trend (yes). Recommendations: The necessity of including the objectives of volunteer work in the curricula of the basic stages of education.
