Abstract

This study aimed to diagnose and identify the extent of the problems and difficulties faced by students at the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies in their academic journey, propose appropriate solutions, and clarify the steps for preparing research proposals for theses. This is intended to support the academy's positive organizational reputation and enhance the public image of the Libyan Academy and its branches. To that end, the researcher conducted a survey of the opinions of a small sample of students from the Libyan Academy and its branches, totaling 55 male and female students. The researcher used an electronic questionnaire prepared according to Google Forms to collect the study data, and used the Arabic version of the PSPPIRE program for the statistical analysis of the study data. The reliability of the study instrument, according to Cronbach's alpha coefficient, reached 95%, and the validity coefficient was 0.975. The study revealed that students face several challenges in their academic journey, ranging from moderate to significant, particularly in administrative matters. Among the most prominent issues were the scarcity of modern scientific books and references in the academy's library and their unavailability in some branches; limited financial support for postgraduate students, with 98.2% of them self-funded; the high cost of printing and binding services for research papers; weak internet connectivity; and a lack of cooperation from businesses with students conducting field research, along with a general disregard for research findings and recommendations. The study also highlighted other difficulties students encounter during the dissertation defense phase. The study provided some recommendations to the students and management of the Libyan Academy as a contribution to solving those problems and difficulties in addition to providing a comprehensive explanation of the most important steps that can be followed in preparing a scientific research plan for scientific letters, This is all to support the good reputation and good mental image enjoyed by the management of the Libyan Academy.
