The Dramatic Conflict and Its Poles in Al-Busiri Abdullah's Plays
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines dramatic conflict and its poles in the plays of Al-Busairi Abdullah as one of the fundamental elements upon which the artistic structure of the theatrical text is based. The study aims to reveal the nature of dramatic conflict and its role in developing events, constructing characters, and highlighting the intellectual, social, and psychological dimensions within the theatrical work. The study is based on a central question: How are dramatic conflict and its poles manifested in the plays of Al-Busairi Abdullah, and what role do they play in shaping the dramatic structure and expressing the playwright’s intellectual vision? The study also seeks to identify the various forms of conflict employed by the playwright and to uncover the artistic techniques that contributed to the representation of conflict within the theatrical text. The significance of the study lies in its focus on a central element of dramatic works, in addition to its contribution to shedding light on Libyan theatre and the artistic experience of Al-Busairi Abdullah, thereby enriching critical studies related to Arab theatre. The study adopts the descriptive-analytical approach through the analysis of selected samples from the playwright’s works in order to explore the nature of dramatic conflict and its artistic and intellectual dimensions. The study reached several findings, most notably that dramatic conflict constituted the central axis in the construction of theatrical events, and that the playwright successfully employed both external and internal conflict to reveal the crises of human beings and society. Symbolism and theatrical dialogue also emerged as two essential artistic tools in intensifying dramatic tension and revealing the poles of conflict. The study recommends paying greater attention to contemporary Libyan theatre and conducting further critical studies on the dramatic structure in the works of Al-Busairi Abdullah, while employing modern critical approaches in the analysis of Arabic theatrical texts.
