The Popular and Official Stance in the Province of Tripoli on the Return of Direct Ottoman Rule in 1835
Main Article Content
Abstract
Modern and contemporary Libyan history contains a number of topics and issues that have not been objectively resolved in a radical way due to the overlap, interconnection, and sometimes contradiction of events. Perhaps the history of Arab-Turkish relations is one of the most important of these topics, as a definitive objective account has not yet been written about many facts and events. This is due to the long period of time that resulted in the diversity of political, economic, and social events and positions upon which Arab-Ottoman relations were built, including Libya, whose modern history is closely linked to Ottoman history. Undoubtedly, the difference in perspectives between the two sides (Ottoman and Libyan) makes the writing often inconsistent. Perhaps this research will reveal an aspect of that era and the national position on it.
