The Concept of Arab Thought according to Muhammad Yaseen Areebi

Abstract

He adopted several approaches while reading the Arab-Islamic heritage, namely the physiological approach and the comparative approach. Muhammad Yassin Oraibi employed many concepts in his readings of the Arab-Islamic heritage, including the concept of the nation, the concept of definitiveness which he used in relation to the products of ancient Greek thought which were represented in the theories of the active mind and the passive mind, and the concept of Orientalism which means the benefit of Western civilization from Islamic civilization. I agree with the reading of the Arabic philosophical text, that is, the reading and revival of the Arab-Islamic heritage, and with the assertion of the Arabs' precedence over Francis Bacon in establishing the experimental method. He focused on establishing what he called 'the nation of Islamic thought and liberation, based on organizing ideas and unifying voluntary action in Muslim countries.' His primary and ultimate concern was to determine who came first and who came next in presenting the ideas and methodologies he studied, analyzed, and compared between Islamic philosophy and modern European philosophy.
