The Morphological and Phonological Structure of the Triliteral Verbal Noun and Its Effect on Meaning (An Applied Analytical Study on Some Verbal Nouns in Surah Al-Baqarah)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research, entitled “The Morphological and Phonological Structure of the Triliteral Verbal Noun and Its Effect on Meaning – An Applied Analytical Study on Examples from Surah Al-Baqarah”, presents a study that encompasses the morphological, phonological, and semantic levels in analyzing the triliteral verbal noun in the Arabic language. It aims to (to uncover) the effect of both morphological and phonological structures in directing semantic meaning and achieving harmony within it, through the study of phonetic syllables and the sounds of the root letters in terms of articulation points and phonetic features.
In its theoretical aspect, the research addresses the patterns of the triliteral verbal noun, distinguishing between what is analogical (regular) and what is based on usage (irregular), along with clarifying the phenomenon of multiplicity of verbal nouns for a single verb and its effect on the expansion of meaning. It also examines the phonological structure by studying the letters constituting the linguistic root and identifying their phonetic characteristics, linking this to the semantic implications they may carry.
As for the applied aspect, the research selects certain triliteral verbal nouns found in Surah Al-Baqarah and analyzes them both morphologically and phonologically, connecting these structures to the meanings they convey within the linguistic context. This contributes to revealing the precision of expression and the strength of the relationship between sound and meaning. The study concludes that Arabic meaning is inseparable from its morphological and phonological structure, and that this integration contributes to a deeper understanding of texts and highlights the precision of the linguistic system in Arabic.
