Abstract

This study analyzes double standards in the application of the United Nations Charter between legal text and international practice. It examines their causes, manifestations, and effects on the legitimacy of the international system and the effectiveness of international law. The study adopts analytical, descriptive, and comparative approaches, focusing on the powers of the Security Council and General Assembly, voting procedures, and veto power. It concludes that double standards are linked to power politics and politicized decisions, and recommends UN reform, restricting the veto, and strengthening legal oversight.
