Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the role of the family in socialization in light of contemporary transformations. It sought to identify the nature of the family’s role in socialization under modern changes, analyze the social and cultural transformations affecting the educational functions of the family, determine the challenges facing the family in performing its socialization role, and finally clarify the impact of modern transformations on values and behaviors acquired within the family. The descriptive method was adopted as it is suitable for the purposes of the study.
The study reached the following findings:
-The family’s role in socialization has become dynamic and participatory, influenced by modern transformations and the digital environment, and its effectiveness depends on its ability to adapt while preserving its core values.
-Social and cultural transformations have reshaped the educational function of the family, making it more complex and intertwined with other institutions, with a decline in its monopoly over socialization and an increase in value differences between generations, making its effectiveness dependent on achieving value balance.
-The family faces increasing challenges in socialization due to multiple sources of influence, economic pressures, the generation gap, and value differences, which makes its educational effectiveness linked to its awareness and ability to adapt to these challenges.
-Modern transformations have reshaped values and behaviors within the family due to cultural openness and technological development, leading to the emergence of new values and the decline of traditional ones, along with value confusion among children and weaker direct communication, making values the product of a complex interaction between tradition and modernity.
