Humorous Dedication Thresholds in the Works of Some Writers
Main Article Content
Abstract
Paratexts are fundamental elements in any publication, and within them comes the dedication, which is an important component that appears in the introduction of every research paper or work. After we introduced the topic of paratexts and explained what they are, we moved on to the dedication—especially its humorous aspect. This feature, it is noted, was not known to earlier writers, as it is considered an innovation; some may believe its purpose is to draw attention to the content of this book. Dedications may be characterized by comedy, or include sarcasm and mockery, and some may even contain elements of fear. This paper highlights the humorous dedication; after presenting it in general terms, we then proceeded to detail the humorous dedication and analyze some texts.
