Abstract
The current research aimed to identify the role of artificial intelligence in improving the skills of faculty members in the Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences on the Western Coast, to reveal their level of awareness of AI technologies, and to identify the challenges facing its application. The researcher used the descriptive approach (survey method). The research population consisted of faculty members in the Colleges of Physical Education at the universities of (Zawiya, Jafara, Sabratha), and the research sample amounted to (70) members selected randomly. A questionnaire was used as a research tool, consisting of three axes: (level of awareness, use of artificial intelligence in improving academic skills, and challenges and obstacles). The research results showed that the level of faculty members' awareness of artificial intelligence was moderate to low in some aspects. It also revealed major obstacles hindering the effective employment of this technology, most notably the poor technical and digital infrastructure, the scarcity of specialized training courses, and the absence of qualified personnel. Conversely, the results indicated a desire among some faculty members to employ these technologies to develop their academic and teaching skills. The research recommended the necessity of providing the necessary technical infrastructure, organizing intensive training programs to spread the culture of artificial intelligence, and providing financial support to employ its applications in higher education.
