Abstract

The Arab world is witnessing a quantum leap in the field of higher education through the continuous increase in the number of universities and their students; by the end of the last century to more than 150 Arab universities. This number serves to meet the Arab world’s need for scientific and technical personnel who contribute directly to solving its social and economic problems and positively impact society through progress. The university serves as a beacon in the community by disseminating knowledge and culture and its active contribution to the process of socialization, through which the individual is refined, a positive spirit is cultivated within them, and they are driven toward achieving their collective goals. Through this great responsibility placed upon the university, the role of the university professor stands out. Therefore, this study derives its importance from shedding light on the university professor and how to improve his professional performance. The study aims to understand the professor, his characteristics, personal and professional traits, his duties, and ways to improve his professional performance, as well as to examine the professional preparation and training of the university professor. The researchers relied on a number of government reports and various sources and references in conducting this study.
