Abstract

In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, his companions, and those who follow him… The Holy Qur’an is a remarkable literary text that embodies the highest characteristics of any Arabic text that has reached us, beyond any doubt. Its features cannot be fully defined, and therefore research into this text never ends; whenever one explores one aspect, new horizons open for studying another. It is an endless ocean. Among its most prominent features is the precision of expression, manifested in the careful selection of words, where each term conveys the intended meaning with utmost accuracy. There is no true synonymy, as every word is placed within its specific context to express a distinct meaning that no other word can replace. This highlights the harmony between wording, meaning, and sound. Al-Raghib Al-Isfahani states: “The words of the Qur’an are the essence and finest selection of Arabic speech, its core and most noble elements. Upon them rely jurists and scholars in their judgments and wisdom, and to them turn the most skilled poets and eloquent speakers in their prose and poetry. All other words, and those derived from them, in comparison to these, are like husks and pits compared to the finest fruit, or like chaff and straw compared to the pure grain of wheat.”
