Potential for International Cooperation in Resolving the Libyan Crisis 2011-2025 An Analytical Study

Abstract

This study addresses the topic of "Future Potential for International Cooperation in Resolving the Libyan Crisis," one of the most prominent challenges facing the international community today. Since 2011, Libya has been experiencing a complex internal conflict, fuelled by foreign interventions, conflicting regional and international interests, and the fragility of Libyan institutions and the disintegration of its social fabric. The study focuses on analysing the reality of international and regional interventions in Libya and assessing the roles of key actors, including the United Nations, the African Union, major powers, and neighbouring countries. It also addresses the challenges facing international cooperation, such as the lack of internal political consensus, conflicting external agendas, and weak coordination among various initiatives. Conversely, the study explores a range of future opportunities that can be leveraged to enhance international cooperation, such as supporting elections, reconstruction, unifying security institutions, and facilitating national dialogue. The aim is to offer practical proposals that can contribute to building a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement process that serves the interests of the Libyan people and enhances the security of the region as a whole.
