The Social, Economic, and Psychological Effects of Recidivism among a Sample of Inmates in Rehabilitation and Correctional Institutions in the City of Al-Zawiya

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the social, economic, and psychological effects of recidivism among a sample of inmates in rehabilitation and correctional institutions in the city of Al-Zawiya. It also sought to examine whether there are statistically significant differences in these effects according to the variables of (number of recidivism cases and length of stay in the correctional institution). The study sample consisted of (107) recidivists. The descriptive-analytical method was adopted, and a questionnaire was used to collect data from the study sample.
The study yielded the following results:
-The social effects of recidivism among the sample were at a moderate level.
The economic effects of recidivism among the sample were at a moderate level. -
The psychological effects of recidivism among the sample were at a moderate level. -
-There were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) in the social, economic, and psychological effects of recidivism among the sample, attributed to the variables of (number of recidivism cases and length of stay in the correctional institution).
