Small Industries and Their Relationship to Local Development in the City of Bani Walid
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to explore the landscape of small enterprises and industries in which young people are engaged, while analyzing the fundamental motivations that drive them toward this sector. It also focuses on identifying the positive outcomes resulting from these activities, whether at the personal and family levels or in their strategic role in advancing sustainable development.
This study falls within the scope of descriptive research, relying on a purposive sample of 25 workers. A questionnaire was used as the main data collection tool. The findings revealed that young people adopt small enterprises—such as restaurants, cafés, cleaning supply shops, and clothing stores—as a primary career path, driven by aspirations that include capital formation, professional independence, and improving their families’ standard of living. The study also demonstrated the active role of these enterprises in socio-economic development by enhancing financial independence, achieving economic stability, and enabling youth to face financial challenges while fostering a sense of responsibility.
