Abstract

This research aims to address some semantic relationships to some linguistic phenomena, namely: synonymy, antonymy, and verbal cognates. Because of its prominent role in imparting linguistic connotations resulting from these relationships, the research was entitled: (Semantic Relationships of Vocabulary: Synonymy - Antonymy - Verbal Commonness, A Study in Philology); I began my research by providing an overview of semantic relationships, then I divided the research into three sections: The first section dealt with: defining the phenomenon of synonymy, the position of scholars on it, the reasons for its occurrence among the ancients, and its benefits. The second section dealt with: defining the phenomenon of contradiction, the position of scholars on it, the reasons for its occurrence, and the most important books written about it. The third section dealt with: defining the phenomenon of verbal commonality, the position of scholars on it, the reasons for its occurrence, and the most important books written about it. Then the conclusion, which contains the most important results that I reached.
