Change in an Individual's Life – The Effect of Retirement from Public Service –
Main Article Content
Abstract
Retirement is a legal and material event arising from the termination of the relationship between a public-sector employee and the organisation with which they were professionally associated; this termination, resulting from the end of that relationship, leads to material, legal and social consequences faced by the retiree. This paper is an attempt to monitor and draw attention to an important demographic group that played a role during a specific stage of life and is expected to assume a role that may be no less significant than their previous roles. The study employed the case study methodology as one of the research methods that provides us with insights into the subject under study. A sample of educational inspectors from the Educational Inspection Department, comprising seven individuals, was selected and studied in depth through structured interviews and the use of a case study questionnaire prepared for this purpose. The study then resulted in a number of recommendations including: the need to work on developing a framework and implementing it correctly to protect this group, and to help retirees prepare psychologically to accept this stage.
