The Relationship Between Zakat and Taxation In the Islamic Financial System

Abstract
This study aims to examine relationship between zakat and taxation whthin the framework of the Islamic finansial system by clarifyning the concept of each, as well as identifyhng the similarities and differences between them, zakat is considred a mandatory financial opligation in islam imposed on specific types of wealth under certain condition, and it is distributed to designated beneficiaries whith the aim of achieving social solidarity and economic justice. In contrast, taxing represents a financial resource imposed by the state according to statutory laws in order to finance puplic expengitures and proved essential services to society. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach to present the jurisprudential and economic concept related to zakatand taxation and to analyze the nuture of their relationship in light of the reguirements of the modern state, The findings indicate that zakat constitutes a fundamental pillar of the Islamic financial system due to its role in promoting social welfare and economic balance. however, its revenues may not always be sufficient to meet all the financial need of contemporary states, which may justify the imposition of taxes under conditions that ensure public interest and prevent injustice or double financial burden.
