Abstract




Early diagnosis and intervention for problems and obstacles affecting the children at an early age is one of the most important modern policies advocated by the advanced societies in addressing the issues of the special groups. The Early intervention services are an interconnected, multidimensional series of medical, health, educational, social, and psychological services provided to children in need of intervention under the age of six, with the aim of preventing, treating, or mitigating the effects of disabilities .Something enhances the effectiveness of these services is the emphasis placed on the family's role , as the main factor in the success of these programs and achieving its goals. Research's Problem: The problem of this study is to highlight the family's role in early intervention programs for the children with special needs, by answering the following question: - What are the early intervention programs for the children with special needs, and what is the role of the family in enhancing the effectiveness of the services of these programs? Study's objective: This study aims to highlight the importance of services provided in early intervention programs for children with various types of disabilities. This study explores the concept and objectives of early intervention programs, focusing on the family as one of the most important factors in the success of these programs, based on an available literature and previous studies. Significance of the study: The importance of this study stems from the critical importance of early childhood and the experiences are created therein, whereas it has a long-term impact on learning and development in general. Therefore, those concerned with child welfare commend the importance of thoughtful and reliable care and attention provided to the children during this sensitive stage, especially for those with the developmental delays, considering that the early intervention programs is one of the most important types of such care. The theoretical significance of this study lies in the information it can provided and sheds light on the importance of the early intervention programs for children with special needs. It also emphasizes on the critical importance of the family's role in the success of these programs and the principles underlying collaboration between specialists and parents. It also highlights the importance of guiding of specialists, parents, and all those involved in child care with the importance of the available information on this topic. The practical significance lies in employing the data extracted from the study to identify the extent of the benefits that resulting from providing the appropriate early intervention services for all types of disabilities, while providing a detailed understanding of the importance of the family's contribution in these programs. The results of this study can also be used to provide a number of the necessary recommendations and suggestions for developing training plans and programs based on family-based early intervention strategies. This is in addition to raising the awareness among the specialists and those working in the field of training and rehabilitation of children with special needs about the importance of using the early intervention strategies in training of these children. It also aims to enrich the Libyan libraries in particular, and Arab libraries in general, about the importance of these programs.
