Abstract

The present study explores user services in relation to manuscripts, with the primary objective of highlighting the current state of such services and identifying the major problems and obstacles that prevent them from adequately meeting users’ needs. The study employed a descriptiveanalytical methodology. The results indicate several significant findings, most notably: The time allocated for users to consult manuscripts is insufficient. Current awareness services concerning manuscripts are absent. There is a clear deficiency in the provision of guidance services, particularly in: Directing users to other repositories that hold copies of the same manuscript. Providing information related to publication and critical editing. The main challenges encountered by users when requesting manuscripts include: Difficulty in accessing manuscripts due to deterioration or damage caused by pests. The unavailability of manuscripts at the time of request, largely due to circulation or an insufficient number of copies. The study concludes with a set of recommendations aimed at overcoming these challenges and improving the quality of manuscript-related user services.
