Abstract

This study aims to find out the role of the scientific research and graduate studies in Tobruk university in achieving the sustainable development, through the application of the study on the Libyan universities operating in Tobruk , which teach graduate studies. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher followed the descriptive analytical method. The study sample consisted of (120) faculty members work at economic department those at Tobruk university, where they were selected in a manner stratified random sample. The study used a questionnaire as the main factor of the data collection, then making the necessary statistical analyzes and test hypotheses using statistical analysis software SPSS. The most important findings of the residency are that the role of scientific research and postgraduate studies is of great importance in meeting the requirements of development, and a national strategy must be developed that directs scientific research and postgraduate studies, to benefit from the results. In achieving it. Sustainable development. The study revealed the effect of the statistical significance when the level of significance (0.05 = α) between the role of "scientific research and graduate studies" and "sustainable development." The study showed a number of recommendations including working to find a national strategy for scientific research and graduate studies, by the support of the political leadership represented in the government and relevant ministries, in addition to role of the ministry of education and higher education, the tobruk university, institutions of the civil society, the private sector, and the scientific research centers, to gain access to the comprehensive and sustainable development .
