Communication technologies and their role in improving performance: A field study on the employees of the middle management of the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigated the role of communication technologies in improving job performance at the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli, through a field survey targeting middle-management employees. A descriptive–analytical approach was adopted, and a questionnaire was used to collect data. The final valid sample consisted of 48 respondents. The findings showed a high level of awareness among participants regarding the importance of modern communication technologies in enhancing job performance, particularly by accelerating information flow and supporting decision-making. However, the actual state of communication technologies within the organization was perceived as weak and outdated. The results also indicated that organizational and technical barriers significantly limit the effective utilization of these technologies, despite employees’ adequate educational level and experience. Accordingly, the study recommended regular updating and maintenance of communication technologies, adopting e‑management to reduce reliance on paper‑based communication, promoting technical awareness and organizational culture change, and strengthening human resources through effective training and incentives to encourage optimal use of modern technologies.
